It began raining shortly after I got out of bed, made coffee, put out peanuts for the chipmunks and continued reading the novel I began last night. And it’s a heavy rain, too. Just what we needed! Or what I needed, anyway.
The two outside jobs I had planned for today were to cut the grass and water the new trees. Now, I can’t do one and don’t have to do the other!
I love rainy days like this. The temperature is cooler than it has been and the hovering humidity is gone, now that the clouds have finally burst. Since what I usually do with my time here at the trailer involves reading, writing, and editing – inside, I can just plan on having a whole day completely filled with all that. I only need to go out for internet access so I can call Dennis on Skype, post this to my blog, and do a quick check of email and Facebook. Then I may spend the rest of the day doing exactly what I believe I was put on this earth to do! I have nearly a full pound of coffee beans and plenty of milk, fixings for a great dinner tonight, and no need at all to leave the comfort of my trailer.
When it began raining, I moved the pile of peanuts in closer to the house and I see now that I’m supporting not only 3 chippies, but also 2 noisy, greedy Blue Jays and 1 fastidious red squirrel that takes a single shelled peanut then hops up on the picnic table to eat it. At this rate, I may run out of peanuts soon. Although, the chipmunks come knocking at the sliding glass door whenever the pile is gone, just to let me know …
Anyway, it’s all good right now at the trailer, and I can further ignore whatever else happens to be going on out in that crazy world. This is, after all, my personal sanctuary, and I intend to make every day a great day – even the rainy days.
So, what kind of rainy day person are you?
A Rainy Days and Mondays person.
A Rainy Day People person?
A Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head person?
Or a The Rain, the Park & Other Things (Flower Girl) person?
I think I’m a combination of the last two.
You are most welcome here! Enjoying the view with me from my trailer or verandah.
Susan
Reblogged this on Smorgasbord – Variety is the spice of life and commented:
Susan Toy is in her personal retreat at her trailer and enjoying the benefits of a rainy day.. She asks what sort of rainy day are you? Personally we welcome the rain as does the parched grass but all we have at the moment is a fierce dry thunder storm rolling around above us.. no swimming today… don’t mind rain but do not like lightening especially if I am wet!

How about a “When the rain comes, they run and hide their heads” person? I don’t mind, the weather’s fine!
We could use some of that precip out this way…

Yes! Will try and return this in your direction, Kevin. And The Beatles always provide good lyrics for rainy days.

I can’t think of an appropriate song (which is rare) but I’m probably The rain doesn’t worry me as i’m shrinkproof, and nothing stops me shopping anyway. There’s a prize if you can find the song with those lines.

Perhaps one of my other readers can provide you with the music for these lyrics … And hugs right back to you!

This made a lovely read. 🙂 Alas, I love the rains too. Especially thundery rainy afternoons when I can sit down next to the window with a cup of tea. ❤ I would love it if you would check out this poem I wrote about a rainy day – "Forgotten" http://wp.me/p5B7da-1F 🙂
