Somewhere Between Another Page and The View – Still bound to Alberta

Today’s musical inspiration is a song I hummed on the plane the very first time I flew into Calgary in 1978. And that comforting memory still lingers on, even though Alberta is no longer my home. A piece of my heart does still reside here, though, and always will …

And this is why. I had to pull over to the side of the highway last evening to take these photos of the sun setting over the Rockies. I’ve seen similar skies before, but this was especially beautiful, as though the province was saying goodbye to me, again.

I shot this video, as well.

“Goodbye, and come back soon!” those mountains are telling me.

You are most welcome here! Enjoying the view with me from my trailer or verandah.

    1. I have been blessed that most of my life I’ve lived next to either large bodies of water or the Rocky Mountains. (Even IN those mountains for the few years we were in Elkford, BC.) There’s something to be said for having a view that’s vast and infinite. It’s definitely humbling.

    1. I was trying to find a video of Gordon Lightfoot and Ian Tyson singing this song at the opening ceremonies for the ’88 Calgary Winter Olympics. Now THAT was a magical performance for every Albertan!
